From the day-use area near Big Sur Lodge the River Path leads to the Pfeiffer Falls Trail, rebuilt after the 2008 Basin Complex Fire, reopened in 2021, closed again by storm damage in 2023, and reopened in September 2025.
The trail ends at the viewing area below the falls. The falls run strongest in winter and spring.
