The trail follows the old ranch road north from Pierce Point Ranch along the spine of the peninsula, with Tomales Bay on one side and the Pacific on the other.
Beyond the old Lower Pierce Ranch site the tread turns sandy and unmaintained but stays well-tracked; the route ends on the bluffs above the point.
